The Forbes Family joins forces with Reebok for SNEAKA 2.0

In an attempt to celebrate the first edition of ‘SNEAKA’ sneaker which was successfully released in 2019, The Forbes Family in partnership with Reebok proudly presents ‘SNEAKA 2.0’ slated to be available on the 16th November 2024 on Reebok Website while landing at Reebok Canal Walk nationwide.

The latest edition of SNEAKA celebrates the iconic collaboration between the late South African Hip Hop Icon Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes & internationally recognised brand ‘Reebok’ which evidently led to serious storms that saw AKA making serious claims: ““Can you believe they didn’t pay me a single cent for this? Not one cent,” AKA stated, shocking his followers. His serious claims led the brand to release what seemed to be a ‘profound and promising to nurture more future activities between the brand and artist’ statement. “Reebok is aware of the claims made by South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known as AKA, on twitter where he has stated non-payment for the brand collaboration of his custom- made Reebok SneAKA.

In October 2019, we executed a successful launch of the Reebok SneAKA. Upon entering into the relationship, both parties were happy with the agreement, and the terms of the launch were not disputed. Reebok met all of our contractual obligations related to the launch.” Reebok stated in their statement in 2020.

“Earlier this year, Reebok communicated with AKA and his management that due to a shift in strategy, we would not be able to renew his contract as an ambassador for the brand. However, we did discuss a new approach of working with AKA. Reebok is thus very disappointed to be learning of the issues raised on social media, as we believed the relationship to still be on a strong footing to negotiate potential future deals” Reebok further said, solidifying their possible collaboration in future in which has led them to this moment; a moment that sees the brand championing the enduring legacy of one of South Africa’s influential artists.

The SneAKA 2.0 keeps the original’s iconic Classic Leather silhouette with chalk-colored leather, a cheetah-print insole, and red heel stub while adding two key updates. For the first time, the South African flag replaces the Union Jack, and AKA’s handwritten initials, “KJF” are embroidered on the heel with 3M reflective details to honor his legacy.
